I have been practicing yoga for almost 20 years now. I started when I moved to Boston from Miami (where I went to college) and was trying desperately as a 20-something to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I was waiting tables and teaching in a preschool and was a little bit lost. One of the moms of my students was a yoga teacher and told me I should come take a class with her. My life was changed! I did Rodney Yee videos, took classes when I could and started to transform my life as I knew it. Back in 2006 while I was still living in San Francisco, I had many people ask me if I could train them to teach yoga to kids. Surprisingly, there was not too many of us doing this work yet. So my friend Rosey and I decided to create our own 8 hour Kids Yoga Teacher Training. Fast forward to 2015, my Full of Joy Yoga Kids Yoga teacher training is now 20 hours with the hopes to increase it to 25 hours in the near future. It has been one of the biggest joys of my biz. Don’t Fear the Preschoolers!
I have been teaching yoga to kids way back since I was a first grade teacher at PS 288 in Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY. That was from 1998-2003! Wow, 17 years ago! I loved doing yoga with my students but I was ready to move on. After 5 years of teaching for the NYC PS system, I realized teaching yoga to kids was what I wanted to do exclusively. I got my first certifications with Radiant Child and Next Generation Yoga and I was off to SF to share my new knowledge!In the years following, I found my niche.
