The other night, Zephyr picked the book “The Very Busy Spider” by Eric Carle as one of the books for me to read him before bed. I have used many of the Eric Carle books for yoga, but this one I hadn’t used in a really long time. Zephyr and I thought it would make the perfect kids yoga class for his preschool class where I was teaching the next day. It also fits in perfectly with all the gardening and beautiful almost summer weather around here. It also gave me an excuse to teach the kids how beneficial spiders are for our yards and to just leave them and let them do their thing- eating all the pests like flies and mosquitoes! Superhero School Kids Yoga
This class has evolved in the most incredibly fun way. I started off with a few superhero poses, and it ended up that we went to superhero school to learn to become superheroes. It has evolved as a Superhero School kids yoga class. The kids have been LOVING it. On my break I witnessed a car accident and then put out a fire at starbucks.” Superhero School for Kids Yoga (for prek-2) I start by telling the kids we are going to school to learn to be superheros. Dinosaur Yoga
Dinosaur Yoga (Pre-k – K) I am the mom to a 4 year old boy, which means my whole life revolves around dinosaurs right now. I have to read at least 3 dino books every night- some are stories but most are fact books. I’m learning A LOT but I’m also finding them to be even more incredibly fascinating then ever. Zephyr’s class is now studying about dinos because the kids have shown such an interest. I’m proud to say that Zephyr is teaching his friends so many facts! It’s pretty cute. When I went in to do yoga the other day, I figured it was time to do my dinosaur yoga class. I tweaked it a bit and it really turned out to be pretty fun. I ended up teaching it about 8 more times since then! Dinosaur Yoga Sequence 1) Breathing Ball breath: We need to calm… Read More »
