The transition from summer to fall has a lot of personal emotion attached to it BUT it’s hard to deny the natural beauty around us here in the Northeast. As October turns to November the leaves are colorful and gorgeous, and our sidewalks are covered in these leaves. The weather gets crisp and cool but warm still from the sun, it’s really hard not to love it. I go into it with hesitation, but when it’s in full swing, I fully embrace it. Maybe it’s because the early fall symbolizes the loss of our first child Silas, while the late fall symbolizes the birth of our son Zephyr. The Very Busy Spider Yoga
The other night, Zephyr picked the book “The Very Busy Spider” by Eric Carle as one of the books for me to read him before bed. I have used many of the Eric Carle books for yoga, but this one I hadn’t used in a really long time. Zephyr and I thought it would make the perfect kids yoga class for his preschool class where I was teaching the next day. It also fits in perfectly with all the gardening and beautiful almost summer weather around here. It also gave me an excuse to teach the kids how beneficial spiders are for our yards and to just leave them and let them do their thing- eating all the pests like flies and mosquitoes! Superhero School Kids Yoga
This class has evolved in the most incredibly fun way. I started off with a few superhero poses, and it ended up that we went to superhero school to learn to become superheroes. It has evolved as a Superhero School kids yoga class. The kids have been LOVING it. I even had a teacher text me this later in the day- “Just wanted you to know that the superhero yoga this morning had a profound affect on my day. On my break I witnessed a car accident and then put out a fire at starbucks.” Superhero School for Kids Yoga (for prek-2) I start by telling the kids we are going to school to learn to be superheros.
