What could possibly be a better way to spend an hour with your family then by doing yoga together? Over the years, I have taught so many variations of families. Now that I’m teaching family yoga with Zephyr, it’s one of my favorite ways to teach yoga. For those of you looking to start teaching some family yoga classes, or even find a teacher to do a class in your neck of the woods, here are some ideas: 1. Pick an organization and do the family yoga classes at a farmer’s market, yoga studio or school and do the class by donation! I’ve been giving to organizations like Africa Yoga Project and CitySeed. I’ve also done a fundraiser for Zephyr’s school. This weekend I’m doing one with another school where I teach. It’s such a great way to raise money! 2. Mother’s Day Yoga Classes. I am Patient…I am Kind
These are 2 of my new affirmation/mantras I’ve been using while on my 40 day meditation challenge. My friend Giselle of Kids Yoga Stories shared her own 40 day meditation challenge last year and I decided to start my own. I’m on day 25 which I almost can’t believe because of how many times in my life I’ve tried to incorporate meditation into my daily life. I’ve read that it takes 40 days of doing something to form a habit and I’m a believer! After 25 days of this, I can’t imagine my morning without it. I read 2 really great articles about meditating with a mala and you can find them here and here. I had a beautiful mala I bought years ago and decided to start using it to… Read More »
Together We Are One
This is the theme and mantra of this collaboration between Team Next Generation Yoga and Africa Yoga Project. I spent the last year fundraising and raised over $8000 to make this trip happen. This week has been inspiring, emotional, exhausting, enriching and joyful. I worked hard to get here, but also feel so lucky that I get to do this. This work is beyond amazing. I’ve been connecting with people who live so differently then me but inside are truly the same. It’s hard to put into words what is happening here. If you’ve seen my facebook posts, you’ve been able to see what an incredible experience this has been so far. Our goal was to come here to teach 80 Africa Yoga Project teachers how to bring yoga to the children they already teach. These teachers have already been trained by Baron Baptiste, but have never learned to formally teach… Read More »
