The Full of Joy Yoga 20-hour teacher training for teaching kids ages 2 – 11 years is geared towards teachers, parents, caregivers, OT’s, PT’s, yogis, and everyone who loves working with children. This training is interactive and comprehensive and will help to inspire you to bring out your inner yogini. This training incorporates music, stories, games & props in a fun and exciting way that will engage any child from toddler through 6th grade. You’ll learn how to make yoga and mindfulness accessible, relatable, and enjoyable for children of all abilities, races, genders, orientations, and backgrounds. (No prior training experience or adult yoga certification is required but participants must have at least 1 year of yoga class experience).
What Trainees Receive & Learn:
The knowledge, skills, confidence, and certificate to teach yoga & mindfulness to toddlers through age 11.
How to improvise when needed (with kids, it often is!)
How to develop your own classes that are fun, safe, effective, and engaging for kids ages 2-11 years (pre-K to 6th grade)
Child development as it relates to 2 to 11-year-olds.
Background on mindfulness and using child-friendly terms to describe how it affects the brain.
How to create your own mindfulness breaks using the Mindful Yoga Breaks® 6 tools.
How to honor the traditional aspects of yoga and make the practice kid-friendly with music, games, props, books, crafts, mindfulness activities, and more.
A complete teaching manual filled with kid’s yoga poses, partner & group poses, breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, and lesson plans.
How to develop trauma-sensitive class management techniques that support a loving, non-competitive environment.
How to teach with confidence.
Observe a real kids yoga class.
Opportunities to practice teach.
17 contact hours and 3 independent study hours for a total of 20 hours of training.
Upon graduation, a certificate of completion and an invitation to join monthly virtual gatherings hosted by FOJY founder Lani Rosen-Gallagher.
